[Sports Seoul | Reporter Kim Yong-il] Son Heung-min (Tottenham), who scored a lot of offensive points from the first round after returning to his team after the A-match, is playing a steeper goal race than when he became the top scorer in the English Premier League (EPL).

Son Heung-min, who wore Tottenham's "captain armband" again on the national team, led his team to a 2-0 complete victory by showing off his "one goal and one assist" performance in the ninth round of the EPL against Fulham in the 2023-2024 season at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England, on the 24th (Korea time).

Tottenham saw the opportunity with a concise pass, faithfully dealing with the forward pressure that manager Angé Postecoglou was aiming for. The troubleshooter was Son Heung-min. In the 36th minute of the first half, when Tottenham won the ball from the left side of the midfield, Hishalisson passed it to Son Heung-min. He beat Fulham defender in front of the penalty box and shook the net with a kick shot with his unique right foot. In the 9th minute of the second half, Tottenham also seized the ball with strong pressure. Son Heung-min, who took over at the gate, passed simply to Madison, who dug in the left side of the penalty area, and he finished with an inside shot with his right foot.

Son scored his seventh goal in the league, trailing EPL's top scorer Erling Holan (Manchester City.9) by a two-goal gap. He is tying with Mohamed Salah (Riverpool, seven goals) for second place in goal tally. It is the first time this season that Son has made assistance.

According to the EPL Secretariat, Son has scored seven goals in nine matches this season, scoring 0.78 goals per game. When he was the top scorer in the 2021-2022 season, he averaged 0.66 goals per game (23 goals in 35 games). In other words, the current goal clock is faster than when he had his first career golden boot.

In the past nine matches, Son has attempted 26 shots and made 13 shots, half of which is on goal. The scoring ratio compared to effective shots stands at 54 percent. When he was the top scorer two seasons ago, his scoring ratio was 47 percent compared to effective shots (49). This is also higher now.
